ARSP in the UK

A German Volunteer in the UK reports: Greta Bauer – ARSP volunteer at the AJR

The English summer has arrived and I am enjoying the light evenings, the summer breeze and the ease it comes with. At the start of my year abroad, the summer always seemed so far away and we saw it as a showing of time so that when it arrived we were sure this precious year was coming to an end.

A young woman reads a speech to a group during a tree planting event. People of different ages listen attentively.

„I was delighted to be invited to several Shabbat dinners on Friday evenings by colleagues that provided an enlightening insight to Jewish traditions. After this year, I value the knowledge I could gain about the history of Judaism and the understanding of the different communities. The visibility of Jewish life, especially in the Jewish areas in North-West London like Finchley or Golders Green, is something I hadn’t experienced before in Germany“
